How can I get creases out of my new curtains?

When you unpack your new Made to Measure product, there may be creasing or pressure marks. These will normally fall out quickly after hanging in a warm room. Alternatively, your product may be lightly steamed on a low heat. Excessive steam and pressure or temperature should be avoided as these can stretch or shrink the fabric.

How much fabric do I need for my curtains and blinds?

If you would like a personalised quote for fabric by the meter please contact us at info@torimurphy.com Before we can provide you with a quote we will need the width and drop dimensions of your window or door. There are further details for how to measure this on pages 6 - 8 of our measuring guide .

The fabric I want is out of stock?

Some of our fabrics are very popular and often sell out. We do our best to ensure that our fabrics are always available, but if your first choice is currently out of stock then please contact us at info@torimurphy.com as we will be able to provide you with a more accurate update on when you can expect the item to be back in stock.

How do I measure up?

Our guide talks you through measuring up for both curtains and roman blinds. When measuring for curtains we recommend having your pole or track in place first to ensure accurate measurements.

What is best for insulation?

If you would like to reduce draught and retain heat where possible, we would recommend choosing either our Thermal or Thermal Supersoft lining. Our Thermal lining is a thin intelligent, specially coated fabric ensuring a solid barrier to keep out the draughts and keep in the warmth. Our Thermal Supersoft lining is a thicker option that will also add some extra body and volume to your window treatments.  If ordering Thermal Supersoft with any of our cotton fabrics a certain amount of light will come through the fabric which can make the pattern less obvious.

Our wool fabrics are also naturally thicker and more insulating, so they are a great choice for any particularly cold windows or doorways.

Can I have roman blinds in a bay window?

Yes you can but there are a couple of things to consider when measuring up. Your blinds will need a small amount of space between them to ensure that they can move up and down smoothly. We recommend leaving a gap of 2cm in between each blind for this.

If you would like your fabric pattern to continue across your blinds, then please leave a note for us in the comments section of your order so that we can accommodate this.

Which is the best lining for me?

When choosing a lining it is important to decide which property is most important for you. Do you need blackout for a bedroom? Do you need thermal for a draughty doorway or would you like a more luxurious looking Thermal Supersoft lining to add extra volume to your curtains. A full list of your options include…

Tori Murphy Fabric
Add additional texture, interest and curb appeal by having Tori Murphy fabric on the back of your curtains or blinds. Choose from Cotton or Wool.

Sateen Twill (off white) 70% Polyester, 30% Cotton

Sateen twill is our standard lightweight lining that gives a simple crease free finish. Benefits include room darkening. If ordering Sateen Twill with any of our cotton fabrics a certain amount of light will come through the fabric which can make the pattern less obvious.

Solprufe (off white) 100% Cotton.

Solprufe is a lightweight cotton lining that enables curtains to hold their shape, provide insulation and darken rooms. It improves the look, drape and flow of curtains by adding weight. Solprufe linings enhance appearance and increase resistance to fading from sunlight. Benefits include room darkening. If ordering Solprufe with any of our cotton fabrics a certain amount of light will come through the fabric which can make the pattern less obvious.

Thermal (off white) - 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton

Thermal is a lightweight but intelligent lining and is an effective way to help keep heat in your rooms and cold air out during the cooler months. Benefits include room darkening and maximum heat retention. When choosing a Tori Murphy Merino Wool Fabric you are choosing a fabric which is already naturally insulating.

Blackout (off white) 100% Polyester

Blackout means that no light will pass through the blackout fabric and through to the room. Blackout lining has a coating that fills any gaps in the spaces of the lining fabric, yet it still remains soft and allows for beautiful pleats and folds. Benefits include light eliminating, room darkening and insulating.

Supersoft Thermal (off white) 52% Polyester, 48% Cotton

Supersoft is a slightly padded, soft and cosy lining that not only helps block out the light but also adds thermal properties for wonderful warmth, texture and drape. Benefits include room darkening, insulating and adds additional thickness.

Interlining (off white) 100% Polyester

Interlining adds a third luxurious layer of padded fabric to your curtains or blinds by using a pre-bonded fabric that is combined with our Sateen Twill lining. Interlining will enhance the look of your curtains and blinds, adding extra thickness and creating fuller padded folds and drapes. Benefits include insulating and room darkening. To create the best effect, interlining is only available up to 130cm wide by 150cm drop on Roman Blinds.
