Once you've chosen your favourite Tori Murphy fabric it's time to choose the lining to complement your bespoke curtains and blinds. Are you a bit stuck on what to choose? Let us help by starting with 2 important questions:

- What room are your made to measure curtains and roman blinds for? Bedroom, bathroom, living space or hallway?

- Do they need to do a specific job? Blackout, insulation, create extra volume for a luxurious look?

Bedrooms often need black out or extra volume to create a more luxurious feel. Bathrooms don't usually need to be blackout but do they benefit from being 100% cotton so that they are breathable to help avoid moisture build up. Hallways are the most common place for needing draught exclusion; draughty doorways that need a thermal lining to keep your home warm over the winter months. These are all useful questions to keep in mind when choosing your lining.

Warm as toast

If you live in a period property with draughty doors and windows your number one priority will be trying to keep your home as warm as possible during the winter months. Insulated door curtains and blinds can really help with this, they keep those chilly draughts out as well as helping to retain the heat from your radiators for longer. We have two great linings to choose from...

Thermal (off white) - 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton

Thermal is a lightweight but intelligent lining and is an effective way to help keep heat in your rooms and cold air out during the cooler months. This fabric has a special coating to ensure that there are no gaps within the fabric so it can act like a barrier. Benefits include room darkening and maximum heat retention.

Supersoft Thermal (off white) 52% Polyester, 48% Cotton

Supersoft is a slightly padded, soft and cosy lining that not only helps block out the light but also adds thermal properties for wonderful warmth, texture and drape. Benefits include room darkening, insulating and adds additional thickness.

Lights out

Room darkening is exactly as it sounds, it cuts down the light entering the room but doesn't black it out completely. You will still be able to see to navigate around the room, whereas Blackout cuts out the light all together. Blackout is ideal for those who need total darkness to get the best night's sleep.

Blackout (off white) 100% Polyester

Blackout means that no light will pass through the blackout fabric and through to the room. Blackout lining has a coating that fills any gaps in the spaces of the lining fabric, yet it still remains soft and allows for beautiful pleats and folds. Benefits include light eliminating, room darkening and insulating.

Solprufe (off white) 100% Cotton.

Solprufe is a lightweight cotton lining that enables curtains to hold their shape, provide insulation and darken rooms. It improves the look, drape and flow of curtains by adding weight. Solprufe linings enhance appearance and increase resistance to fading from sunlight. Benefits include room darkening. If ordering Solprufe with any of our cotton fabrics a certain amount of light will come through the fabric which can make the pattern less obvious.

Interlining (off white) 100% Polyester

Interlining adds a third luxurious layer of padded fabric to your curtains or blinds by using a pre-bonded fabric that is combined with our Sateen Twill lining. Interlining will enhance the look of your curtains and blinds, adding extra thickness and creating fuller padded folds and drapes. Benefits include insulating and room darkening.

Interlining (off white) 100% Polyester

Interlining adds a third luxurious layer of padded fabric to your curtains or blinds by using a pre-bonded fabric that is combined with our Sateen Twill lining. Interlining will enhance the look of your curtains and blinds, adding extra thickness and creating fuller padded folds and drapes. Benefits include insulating and room darkening. To create the best effect, interlining is only available up to 130cm wide by 150cm drop on Roman Blinds.

Keep it simple

If you're aiming to keep things cost effective all whilst looking beautiful this is the lining for you. A soft woven fabric that compliments both our Cotton and Wool fabrics and ideal for use in any room. 

Sateen Twill (off white) 70% Polyester, 30% Cotton

Sateen twill is our standard lightweight lining that gives a simple crease free finish. Benefits include room darkening. If ordering Sateen Twill with any of our cotton fabrics a certain amount of light will come through the fabric which can make the pattern less obvious.
